Happy New Year From CdC
Happy New Year everyone, from CdC. 2011 has been a great year for CdC. The last two months have been quiet busy… well, not with just work but also with good fun. One particular fun event was our night out at the Palace View Chinese on the 11th of November. If you click the Image below you can see the photos and you will see that a great night was had by all.
On Sunday November 27th CdC traveled to our good friends, in Waterford, Pat Rockets martial arts academy to do a movie workshop. This turned out a complete success and with over 50 kids and teens that are an extremely attentive group of youths; we made a 10-minute movie in just under 5 hours. The movie is not up online but there are some photos of the event in the photo gallery if you click the image below.
On December 3rd we had our second Bowling tournament in the Planet, Blackpool to fundraise for the next W.U.K.F championships in Serbia on October 2012. We are getting off to a great start, fundraising for this event and not without having a great time either. The night was a great success. The Kearney Family came in Second place and the Galvins and o Donnells came in first demonstrating superb bowling skills. Check out the photos of this event by clicking the image below.
On Wednesday, the 7th of December Sensei Liam and Teresa Griffin were awarded the K2C training award on behalf of the club for training at the center and giving our support since it opened in 2009. Click the image below to see the photos.
On Saturday the 10th of December CdC, once again travelled to our Friends in Waterford, this time bringing a group of competitors with us for a friendly tournament. The tournament was ran very well at Pat Rockets Martial Arts center. There was both Kata and Kumite eventsfor all ages. Both clubs performed very well on the day and some students even showed huge improvements at the event alone. We would like to especially congratulate our younger competitors on being so successful. Despite it being there first ever tournament, they still performed very well and they all walked away with a medal. You can see the photos of the event by clicking the image below and we also have video footage of some of the senior fights, which you can see in the, “Vidz” section or you can click here.
K2C will open up again on Monday the 9th of January and we will be back in the full swing of training on Wednesday the 11th of January at the usual times. We have a lot ahead of us for 2012. Along with our gradings we have a number of tournaments to train for this year and anyone who commits and trains hard enough can be accepted on the Irish squad like last years group.
We will also be starting a self-defence course at Christy’s health club, Blarney, in late January. If you’re interested or if you know anyone who is interested you can contact Liam Senior on 0868569775 or William Browne on 0851659598. There’s also more information on the course if you click here.
Until next week, enjoy the rest of your break and we’ll see you in the New Year. Meanwhile you can check out the website. A few updates have been made.
