From Karate Club to Martial Arts Academy
Cúram de Cara Academy of Martial Arts was officially launched in January 2004. Although, its roots are buried deep in the late 1970’s when CdC Chief Instructor Sensei Liam Griffin Snr began teaching Shotokan Karate in the small rural village of Blarney. For many years, the club saw brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, families and friends all share a common interest in the martial arts.
Following increasing demand for classes, the club began to spread to neighbouring villages and before long, a network of venues was established under the umbrella organisation of Cúram de Cara (or CdC for short). Loosely translated, Cúram de Cara means “family of friends”, reflecting the basis on which the whole story began.
Today, CdC has centres in Blarney, Rathpeacon, Rathduff, Churchfield, Bishopstown, CarrignabhFear and Ballincollig. Its team of instructors work tirelessly to bring quality tuition to its members and provide a solid administrative infrastructure, allowing them to train safely, grade regularly and have the opportunity to compete on all platforms - right up to International level.
