Instructor Biography - Liam-Og Griffin


Sensei Liam-Og Griffin (3rd Dan Shotokan, NCEF Level 1 & B.Eng)

Liam-Og was introduced to the martial arts at the tender age of 7. Born into a family of martial artist, the fighting spirit was in his blood. He achieved his first Black Belt in Shotokan Karate at age 17 in 1998 and had a very successful international competitive career with a European and two World Silver Medals to his name. His conquests have allowed him to travel to many parts of the world including California, Florida, Poland, Germany, Italy & Japan.



While in Florida in 2004, Liam-Og studied the art of stunt choreography under the tuition of a number of Hollywood stunt coordinators. On his return home, he passed on his knowledge and developed Action Movie Martial Arts and worked on a number of home grown action movies using local cork talent and scenery.

Liam-Og’s academic background is in Electronics Engineering. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Cork Institute of Technology in 2005 and went on to work in the industry for 3 years before rededicating his life to his true passion – martial arts and fitness. In 2006, Liam-Og qualified as a fitness instructor under the N.C.E.F. based in University of Limerick and since March 2007, he has worked exclusively for Curam de Cara Academy of Martial Arts being one of the only full time martial arts instructors in Cork.
