Instructor Biography - Liam Griffin Snr

 

Sensei Liam Griffin Snr (5th Dan Shotokan Karate)

 

Having begun his training in the early 1970’s, Sensei Liam Griffin Snr tournament career spanned across 2 decades, when he had many successes at all levels. He began coaching in the late 70’s and over the years, his style has adapted with the influences of many different martial arts, including Aidido and T’ai Chi.
Liam Snr still considers himself a student and loves to attend seminars to train with and learn from other senior instructors , his original influences were Japanese such as Senseis Eonoda, Kanazawa, Kawazoe and Kagawa.He is also impressed with non Japanese instructors like John and George Best , Brian Woods(RIP),Le Ferve,and most of all Hanshi Patrick Mac Carthy of Koryu Unchinadi fame .Traditional Shotokan Karate will always be his  base but he believes that  we cannot overlook other Classical martial art forms such as Ju Jitsu , Judo , Aikido, Kung Fu, Escrimo ,Taekwondo  etc., We can also admire the techniques and prowess of the modern forms such as Brazilian Ju Jitsu , M.M.A and U.F.C.
Curram de Cara teaching methods continue to change and adapt to incorporate and import knowedge from all sectors ,
