Instrutor Biography - Marlene Griffin

Sensei Marlene Griffin (2nd Dan Shotokan Karate)

Marlene started her Karate training at the age of 8 and became one of the youngest black belts in Ireland at the age of 12. She was somewhat a child prodigy and was ear-marked by a number of Japanese instructors for scholarships. An unfortunate knee injury in her teenage years put a pre-mature stop to a flourishing tournament career but the love of martial arts never left her. Today, as a mother of 3, Marlene is one of the senior coaches for Curam de Cara Academy of Martial Arts. She specialises in coaching the Punching Pandas (the youngest members of the academy) and Junior Karate. She is also heavily involved in coaching the fitness derivatives such as Karobics and Kickbox Fitness.
